smelling: apple spice bread, fresh from the oven.

hearing: peskies playing Star Wars.  Littlest is Obi Wan, Big is Queen Amidala.

beginning: work on one of these for some pesky holiday gifts.

waiting: for November 19th.

ignoring: the last whoopie pie calling to me from the pantry.

Apple Spice Bread

2 cups AP flour
1 cup WW flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t coarse salt
1 T flax meal
2 t ground cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 t vanilla
3 cups peeled, chopped apples (I used fuji)

2 T sanding sugar
1 t ground cinnamon
1/4 t freshly grated nutmeg

Heat oven to 350.  Grease and flour two 8×2 inch bread pans.  Mix dry ingredients together in large bowl.  In small bowl, mix eggs, applesauce, sugars, milk, and vanilla.  Pour into larger bowl, mix until just combined.  Fold in apples.  Divide batter between both pans.  In small bowl, mix sanding sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  Bake loaves 10 minutes.  Sprinkle sugar mixture on top, bake another 40 minutes.  Let cool in pans completely, turn out onto platter.  Serve with molasses and a glass of milk.
